Newborn Fawn in my Parents Yard

Last night I went to dinner with my friends Ken and Nancy in Austin. We went to Garridos, a new restaurant owned by a former chef from Jeffreys. It is a very trendy taco bar. The food was good, it has a new patio overlooking Shoal Creek. But it was crowded and you had to valet park. Of course it was around 104 degrees in Austin today so we passed on sitting on the patio and ate appetizers and had drinks at the bar while we waited. The Mexican Martinis and Margaritas were fabulous. The appetizers were good, the oyster tacos were excellent. The beans were ok. Don't go looking to get full.

There was a Maserati parked outside. And it was very new.

We got back to my parents in Westlake Hills. Their house is about 10 minutes from the capitol but has a very rural feel to it. And the above picture is what we found when we pulled up. Obviously it had just been born and was waiting for it's mom to come back and get him/her.

Before I left for Austin to go to a wedding shower, I noticed Scarlett repeatedly going to the litter box. So I left a note for Bill and told him to take her to Dr. Rubio, our vet. So he did and she has crystals in her urinary tract so I'm glad he took her. We lost one cat to urinary problems.

The shower was for the fiance of the son of a friend. Way back a hundred years ago, my first job was at the Comptroller's office. And working for the state you got prescribed breaks. You had 15 minutes exactly in the morning and 15 minutes in the afternoon. We ended up with what is now known as "The Coffee Group". Funny thing is several of us do not drink coffee. So since the 70's this group has gone through some of us leaving the Comptroller, lots of marriages, divorces, children, grandchildren, losses of family members. But through it all, we have remained close and celebrate birthdays, weddings, babies, etc together. All the kids are friends even if they don't see each other much. This is the latest. We are very proud of Justin. He is graduating from The University of Texas (the only school) with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and is marrying Clare in 2 weeks. Another one of the kids Tray just became engaged to Becky in Belize a couple of weeks ago. He and Becky are both architects and Tray was given a free week stay in Belize at a house for a job well done. Becky sent out the cutest announcement saying: I went to Belize and all I got was ENGAGED. We are thrilled to have her as a member of the "Coffee Group" family.
